Making your own Almond milk couldn’t be easier!

Rich in nutritional content and delicious in taste, Almond Milk is a drink made from ground almonds and water. That’s it!

And it’s so easy for you to make at home.

It is a popular plant-based alternative to cow’s milk, but as far as I am concerned a much healthier alternative. It doesn’t cause a mucus build up in the blood in the way dairy can, and the body can utilise the goodness easily.

Making your own is a much better way of getting the goodness in as most commercial almond milk manufacturers add vitamins and other nutrient fortifications, as well as thickening agents like carrageenan, a seaweed derivative commonly used as a beverage stabilizer.

How to make your own…

  1. Soak 1 cup of almonds uncovered in water for 24hrs.

  2. Drain and discard the soaking water.

  3. Rinse the almonds.

  4. Blend them on high speed with 2 cups of fresh water.

  5. Strain well using a cheesecloth.

  6. Add a little vanilla, sweetener or cinnamon to suit your taste buds.

This should last in an airtight container in the fridge for 2-3 days and contains some incredible health benefits, such as vitamin E, riboflavin, fibre, magnesium calcium and potassium.
