As this New Year’s Eve is going to be a quieter affair for most of us than usual (unless we live in New Zealand!), it may be that you are not going to drink quite as much this year, or maybe for some of you no alcohol at all.
I wanted to give you a few ideas for some sexy cocktails that taste great with or without the alcohol.
They are not completely healthy, and do contain some sugars, but it’s a good place to start to feel like you’re at that swanky cocktail bar this new year’s eve, without the following morning headache!
Pomegranate Mojito Mocktail

Ingredients:
4x tablespoons of Pomegranate Seeds
Handful of Fresh Mint
2x Limes (cut into quarters)
1 pint of Pomegranate Juice
500ml Lemonade
How to make:
A day ahead, divide the pomegranate seeds in an ice cube tray, top up with water and freeze.
Reserve half the mint for serving and tear the rest into a large jug with the lime quarters. Using a rolling pin, bash the mint and lime to release the flavours.
Add the pomegranate juice and lemonade to the mint and lime.
Put ice cubes in each glass, then strain over the pomegranate mix through a small sieve.
Garnish with lime slices and more mint.
Mulled Apple Juice

Ingredients:
1 pint of Apple Juice
Peel of 3x Oranges
1x Cinnamon Stick
3x Cloves
1x tablespoon of Brown Sugar
How to make:
Simmer the apple juice with the strips of orange peel, cinnamon stick and cloves for about 5-10 minutes until all the flavours have infused. Sweeten to taste with the sugar.
Serve each drink with a little orange peel and a piece of cinnamon stick, if you like.
Peach Punch

Ingredients:
Juice of 2x Lemons
Juice of 2x Limes
1x Lemon (thinly sliced)
1x Lime (thinly sliced)
1x pint of Peach Juice
1x glass of Cloudy Lemonade
6x Strawberries (sliced)
1x glass of Sparkling Water
Handful of Mint Sprigs
How to make:
Put the lemon juice and lime juice into a large jug.
Add the sliced lemon and lime, and a handful of ice cubes.
Add peach juice to fill about one-third of the jug and top up to fill with lemonade.
Add the strawberries and top up with sparkling water and mint sprigs.
Have a happy and healthy New year’s eve!
